Located in Edmonton's trendy Garneau neighbourhood, La Poutine is a cozy & unique poutinerie with 20+ varieties of Canada's National Dish!
La Poutine opened it's doors in May 2011 inside the historic Garneau Theatre Building. The concept was built out of love...love for poutine, love for Canada and a love for serving the community. On our team you will find passionate individuals who'll guide you through the menu and help you build the poutine of your dreams.
What is Poutine, you ask? Poutine is a dish created in Quebec in the 1950's consisting of fries, cheese curds and piping hot gravy. The word "poutine" is rumoured to mean "mess" in old french slang.
At La Poutine, we aim to elevate the traditional 1950's poutine by using fresh, homemade and local ingredients. Each poutine is crafted with love and each component has been carefully sourced:
Fries: Our fries are hand-cut from locally grown russet potatoes and twice fried in canola oil.
Cheese Curds: Our curds are brought in from La Belle Provence, Quebec for that authentic squeak-in-your-teeth feeling and taste.
Gravy: We offer 3 types of gravy: Traditional gravy which is lighter tasting and considered to be more authentic. This gravy is also vegan. Our beef-style gravy is considered to be our Western-Canadian gravy, Our gluten-free gravy is available for anyone with a gluten intolerance and is also vegan.
If you're undecided, ask us for a taste test!
Food Containers: We've chosen bagasse compostable containers which are made from sugar cane pulp.
Our petit restaurant has 10 seats inside and 12 outside (Oui! Even in the Winter!) We look forward to welcoming you!
